For homeless youth across Minneapolis, AIDS is a serious–and sometimes deadly–issue. For the young people that YouthLink serves it’s often top-of-mind.
That’s why YouthLink staff and youth participated in annual MN AIDS Walk at Minnehaha Park on Sunday, May 16.
In addition to participating in the walk itself, youth also played croquet, football, badminton and chess while enjoying a barbeque thanks to resident chef, “Carl”.
Bottom line: This event gave homeless youth the opportunity to get involved in a community event that focuses on a cause that’s relevant to their world in HIV and STD education and prevention.
In fact, a number of YouthLink peer educators walked and passed out more than 150 sets of prevention materials to youth during the event.
